Q .  What is Dog Scholars?

A .  Dog Scholars is the trading name of Roy Cushway, a trainer from East Anglia who has been working professionally since 1993.  Roy was one of the earliest members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and is a fervent believer of soft and gentle methods of dog training.

Q .  What does Dog Scholars do?

A .  The idea is to train dog owners to train their dogs, we do not try to train the dog.  The dog needs to listen to the owner not to the trainer.  This way both the owner and the dog are happy.  It works and it's great fun too!

Q .  How does it happen?

A .  Dogs of all ages can develop obedience or behavioral problems. We work with the knowledge that normally the root cause of these problems originates inside the home, so the home is the best place to start the cure.   Home visits (at a time to suit you) allow us to see the dog in it's own environment and, with the help of the owner, assess the cause of the problem and the best way to correct it.  A full report will follow a visit to ensure that the owner doesn't forget the plan, telephone support is available and a follow-up visit would normally take place 5 - 6 weeks later.

Dog Scholars believes that wherever the problem may show itself-  park, beach, field or high street - the solution starts in the home.

Because we train the owner to train the dog, our visits can be few and far between
